Cash, gun, ammo seized from Norway House home

First Nation Safety Officers dealing with a complaint in Kinosao Sipi Cree Nation detained five individuals and called RCMP for backup after finding “a quantity of cash” at the home last month.

When Norway House RCMP arrived at the scene, five people were arrested.

A search warrant later executed led to the seizure of cash, a loaded 9mm handgun, ammunition, body armour, knives, jewelry and electronic devices.

A 25-year-old man from Winnipeg and a a 37-year-old woman from Kinosao Sipi Cree Nation, also known as Norway House, have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and several gun offences. They remain in custody.

Three others — a 38-year-old woman, 17-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl, all from Kinosao Sipi — were charged with possession of property obtained by crime. They were released pending future court dates.
