A two-year-old boy was taken to hospital in stable condition after he nearly drowned at Delta Beach, north of Portage la Prairie, last week.
RCMP were notified about a possible drowning at about 6:15 p.m. on July 18. Emergency crews were treating the boy when officers arrived.
The boy had been playing in Lake Manitoba with other children when he suddenly went under the water and did not resurface, RCMP said in a news release Friday. He was not breathing when he was pulled from the water.
A 29-year-old man saw what was happening and went over to help the child’s family. The man began performing CPR until the child began coughing and stayed with him until emergency crews arrived.
The child was taken to hospital in stable condition as a precaution and will make a complete recovery, the news release said.
