A 49-year-old man who has served time for sexual offences against children was released from the Headingley Correctional Centre on Saturday.

James Sheldon Jasper is expected to live in Winnipeg after serving a sentence for failing to comply with conditions of a probation order.

The Winnipeg Police Service sent a news release Saturday on behalf of the Manitoba integrated high-risk sex offender unit, a joint unit composed of WPS and RCMP officers, to alert the public of his release.

Jasper is considered a high risk to reoffend, the release said. He was convicted of a sexual offence against a 10-year-old boy in November 2003 and has repeatedly breached terms of his long-term supervision and probation orders, the release said.
