City of Winnipeg’s CAO resigns, mayor to nominate interim replacement

The City of Winnipeg’s chief administrative officer submitted his resignation Monday.

Michael Jack started working with the city in July 2000 and was appointed as CAO in July 2021. His last day as CAO is June 28.

Mayor Scott Gillingham will present a motion at Tuesday’s executive policy committee meeting to nominate Sherwood Armbruster as interim CAO.

Armbruster has been the city’s senior election official and manager of strategic initiatives since 2012. He is responsible for recruiting, training and managing a staff of more than 2,000 during general elections. He previously served as chief of staff and deputy chief of staff to mayor Sam Katz and as interim CAO of Siloam Mission.
