RCMP arrested a 17-year-boy and charged him with drug trafficking after pulling over a pickup truck Saturday in Crane River First Nation.

Officers from the Ste. Rose du Lac detachment were conducting traffic enforcement on Road 481 in the First Nation when they attempted to pull over the unregistered truck. The vehicle did not stop, instead pulling into a driveway, a Monday news release stated.

The boy attempted to walk away from police but officers caught up to him and, after a search, found him in possession of individually packed substances that appeared to be crack cocaine and marijuana, police said. He also had cash.

The Crane River teen was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and released pending a court date.
