A Saturday morning fire in Winnipeg’s South Pointe neighbourhood has the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service reminding vehicle owners not to plug-in their block heaters if their car is parked in a garage.
Crews were called to a single-family bungalow on Yorkvalley Way around 11:45 a.m. and found a vehicle on fire inside the home’s attached garage.
The fire was extinguished by 12:13 p.m. and no injuries were reported. It’s suspected the fire was accidental and caused by a plugged-in block heater.
