Winnipeg police seized a handgun, ammunition, a folding knife and body armour during a traffic stop at Mountain and McPhillips on Saturday morning.

A Dodge Ram pickup truck with four occupants was stopped at a red light at that intersection at about 7 a.m. Nov. 10. The vehicle sped up to get away when the driver saw a police vehicle behind them, WPS stated in a news release. Police pulled over the vehicle in the 600 block of McPhillips, saw the knife and body armour “in plain sight” in the vehicle, and found quantities of fentanyl, meth and cocaine in the truck as well as more than $9,000 in cash.

Kevin Raymond Scott Yestrau, 42, was charged with trafficking, firearms, weapons and proceeds-of-crime offences and was detained in custody. Three other Winnipeggers were charged with similar offences and were released on undertakings, WPS stated in the release.
