The Winnipeg Jets could be getting the guy nicknamed “Fly” back into their playoff lineup tonight as they try to eliminate the St. Louis Blues.
Nikolaj Ehlers shed his non-contact jersey and was a full participant at the morning skate in St. Louis. He took line rushes with captain Adam Lowry and winger Cole Perfetti while also joining the top power play unit during drills. He is expected to play, provided he gets through the pre-game warmup with no issues.
“If Nikky is ready to go, if we can have him step into the lineup, that’s a big boost for our offensive game, a big boost for our transition game, and adding another elite player to to lineup,” said Lowry.
Ehlers has missed six straight games after re-aggravating a lower-body injury when he ran into a lineman last month in Chicago. The 29-year-old had 63 points (24G, 39A) in 69 regular season games this year.
Winnipeg will make one other lineup change with centre Dominic Toninato skating on the fourth line. Jaret Anderson-Dolan and Mark Scheifele, who suffered an upper-body injury in Game 5, come out of the lineup.
The Jets lead the best-of-seven series 3-2. If the Blues win, a winner-take-all Game 7 would be held Sunday at 6 p.m. at Canada Life Centre.
