A new epilepsy monitoring unit is being established at Health Sciences Centre, the provincial government announced Tuesday.

The four-bed unit is already admitting 10 to 12 patients per month. It replaces a two- bed unit that closed in 2019. The province is spending $2.3-million in capital funding and $2.5-million in annual operating funding.

Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara called the unit a “game changer” for epilepsy care while making the announcement on the HSC campus this morning.
