An allegedly impaired driver rammed a police vehicle before smashing into a median in Charleswood on Saturday night.
After receiving multiple reports of an erratic driver in the West End at about 8 p.m., officers spotted a 2019 Honda Civic being driven dangerously in the River Heights area shortly after 9 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service said Sunday.
The driver continued to drive erratically to evade officers, the WPS said.
Officers tried to stop the car at Laxdal Road and Ridgewood Avenue, but it accelerated and rammed a police vehicle before speeding away. The police helicopter was used to monitor the car as it continued to drive erratically in the Charleswood area.
The Civic jumped a raised median concrete curb near Roblin Boulevard and Greenbrier Avenue at about 9:15 p.m., causing significant damage and rendering the car inoperable.
Police arrested a 25-year-old woman. Neither the driver nor her two adult passengers were hurt, the WPS said.
The woman is facing various charges, including impaired and dangerous driving, fleeing from police and two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon. She was released.
