Faith reporter among Manitobans named to Order of Canada

Free Press faith reporter John Longhurst has been named a member of the Order of Canada by Governor General Mary Simon.
The full list of new officers and members was announced today.
In the announcement, Longhurst is credited for his work as columnist and making his goal “to promote positive interdenominational relations, to reduce hate and to help readers see the humanity in every person.”
Also named as members of the Order of Canada were Winnipeggers Orland Arthur Backstrom, a longtime disability rights activist, Kenneth Leslie Mould, who has worked to enhance Canadian veterinary health care, and Scott Oake, a dedicated advocate for addiction recovery.
