The federal government is providing $9 million to build or repair 86 affordable housing units and shelter spaces in three Manitoba communities.
Officials said a 14-bed women’s shelter will be built in Pimicikamak Cree Nation (Cross Lake), and a five-unit transitional housing shelter will be constructed in Fisher River Cree Nation. Both facilities will receive operating funding.
Repairs will be made to 67 low-income housing units that are home to single parents and their children in Thompson, the federal government said.
