Fire truck engine ignites: WFPS

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service extinguished a fire that broke out in the engine compartment of a fire truck Saturday morning, a news release states.

Crews noticed the fire, which occurred near Osborne Street and Morley Avenue just before 9 a.m., after returning to the truck from a call.

A second fire engine was sent to the area to extinguish the blaze. No one was injured and the cause is under investigation.

Firefighters were also called to a fire in a two-storey home on Silver Springs Bay in the Eaglemere neighbourhood around 4 a.m.

Smoke and flames were coming from the house when crews arrived on scene. The fire was declared under control at 4:35 a.m. No injuries were reported.
