Firefighter sent to hospital

A firefighter was sent to hospital after battling a blaze Sunday in Winnipeg’s Buffalo neighbourhood.
Crews were called to a commercial building on the 1500 block of Seel Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Firefighters used aerial ladders and a defensive strategy before pivoting to an offensive strategy when it was safe, a city news release Monday said.
The fire was declared under control just before 3 a.m. Paramedics took one firefighter to hospital in stable condition.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service extinguished two other fires early Monday.
Crews were called to a house on the 300 block of William Newton Avenue in Chalmers just after 2 a.m. Firefighters had the blaze under control about an hour later. No injuries were reported.
Then, at about 5:30 a.m., crews battled a fire in the first-100 block of Argyle Street in South Point Douglas. Firefighters used an offensive and defensive attack as the situation changed.
The blaze was declared under control just after 6:30 a.m. There were no injuries.
The fires remain under investigation.
