Firefighter taken to hospital after house fire on Sherburn Street 

A firefighter was taken to hospital as crews battled a house fire in the West End early Tuesday.

Crews were sent to the house on the 1000 block of Sherburn Street shortly after 2:15 a.m., switching between offensive and defensive attacks as conditions changed. They declared the fire under control shortly before 3:15 a.m.

Paramedics assessed a firefighter at the scene and transported them to hospital in stable condition, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said in a news release.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
