Winnipeg firefighters were called to the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue late Sunday night after reports of a fire in a vacant house — the second blaze at the property this year.

Crews arrived shortly after 11 p.m. and launched an interior attack, bringing the fire under control just before midnight. No one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The same home previously caught fire in June. All occupants in that fire were able to escape before fire crews arrived. One person was treated by paramedics but did not require hospitalization.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is asking residents to call 911 immediately if they see someone actively entering a vacant building or removing boards from windows or doors from a building, or call 311 if boarded windows or doors have been breached but no one is seen actively trying to enter.
