Just before midnight on Friday, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a house in the 500 block of Ross Avenue.

Crews found heavy flames and smoke coming from the building and a neighbouring house. Firefighters attacked the fire, switching between defensive and offensive attacks until they declared it under control at 12:46 a.m.

Everyone had gotten out of the houses safely before crews arrived, and no injuries were reported. The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team responded to the scene, providing temporary support for displaced residents.

The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available, but both houses were damaged by fire, smoke and water.
