One person remains unaccounted for and firefighters are still on scene after a Nassau Street South house fire Saturday night.
The fire broke out in a one-and-a-half storey house in the 600 block of Nassau Street South at about 11:32 p.m Feb. 28. On-duty police officers first reported the fire.
Firefighters responded, fought the blaze and eventually declared the fire under control at 2:43 a.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported, but one person is still unaccounted for, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service stated in a news release Sunday afternoon. Police and firefighters are still on scene and continue to investigate.
The house is believed to be a complete loss after sustaining significant fire, water and smoke damage, the Fire Paramedic Service stated, advising the public the surrounding area may be slippery as water from fire-fighting efforts has frozen.
