Reggie Abercrombie suffered a cardiac arrest and is awaiting a surgical procedure in Maryland, the Winnipeg Goldeyes announced in a Twitter post Wednesday morning.

The former Goldeyes star was in the middle of giving a baseball lesson when he suffered the cardiac arrest. CPR was administered on scene and Abercrombie was rushed to hospital, where he awaits surgery to implant a defibrillator. The post by the Goldeyes said he’s improving with each day.

Abercrombie first joined the Goldeyes in 2014, playing parts of the next six seasons in Winnipeg, including winning back-to-back league championships in 2016 and 2017.
