Five people were injured, four seriously, after a head-on collision south of Sanford Friday night.

Headingley RCMP were sent to the scene on Highway 3 at 9:30 p.m. and learned a vehicle travelling north had “swerved all over the road” before hitting a vehicle travelling southbound, Mounties said in a news release Monday.

The 52-year-old driver of the southbound vehicle was treated for minor injuries. Two passengers, his 14-year-old daughters, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They remain in hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 25-year-old man from St. Adolphe, and the passenger, a 19-year-old man, were taken to hospital in critical condition.

RCMP, a forensic collision reconstructionist and a criminal collision investigation team continue to investigate.
