Four claims have been made so far this year for vehicles that fell through the ice, Manitoba Public Insurance says.

MPI said 22 such claims were made in 2024. The Crown corporation held a news conference at St. Vital Park’s boat launch Wednesday afternoon to warn people about the danger of thinning ice as the spring thaw begins.

Spring officially begins Thursday morning.
