Four people taken to hospital after ambulance crash

Four people were taken to hospital in stable condition on Saturday after a crash involving an ambulance.

The crash happened at about 3:25 p.m. Nov. 9 at the intersection of William Avenue and Isabel Street.

A dash-cam video posted to social media appears to show the ambulance running a red light, without its sirens or flashing lights, and crashing into a pickup truck.

A Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service spokesperson said emergency personnel responded and four people were taken to hospital in stable condition as a result of the crash. The ambulance involved was from outside Winnipeg and wasn’t a Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service ambulance.

A Winnipeg Police Service spokesman confirmed cadets responded to the scene to help with traffic control following the crash involving an out-of-city ambulance and a passenger vehicle.

Police aren’t investigating what is now a Manitoba Public Insurance matter.
