The city’s latest giveaway weekend starts Saturday.
Residents seeking to get rid of unwanted items are advised to place them at their front curb, label each item as “free,” keep items that are not being given away far from the curb and remove unclaimed items by dusk Sunday.
The City of Winnipeg has asked residents not to put out items that could be unsafe or have bedbugs.

“Giveaway Weekend is not only about decluttering items, it’s about reducing the waste in our landfills by giving others the opportunity to reuse unwanted treasures,” Coun. Evan Duncan, chair of the city’s water, waste and environment committee said in a news release.
“I encourage residents to take time to go through their belongings and consider whether or not it can be rehomed. This is another way Winnipeggers can do their part to protect the environment.”
