GoFundMe monitoring potential crash fundraising

The online crowdfunding platform GoFundMe says it is “vigilantly observing” any potential fundraising in connection with a deadly crash near Carberry to ensure they are legitimate.

A spokeswoman said in an email Friday morning that GoFundMe’s trust and safety team is “vigilantly observing the platform for any authentic fundraisers set up to support the victims” of the crash. Fifteen people were killed and 10 seriously injured on the Trans-Canada Highway on Thursday.

“Our specialized crisis response team is actively reviewing each fundraiser, ensuring that the affected individuals can receive prompt, reliable aid,” the email stated.
