Goldeyes need extra-inning to down Monarchs 9-8

The fans filled the ballpark for the fourth and final game of the series, the Winnipeg Goldeyes versus the Kansas City Monarchs.

In the bottom of the first, catcher Raphaël Pelletier doubled on a line drive to left field driving both Ramón Bramasco and Ray-Patrick Didder home, taking an early lead 2-0.

The Monarchs scored a run in the second and four more in the fifth, advancing 5-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, right fielder Keshawn Lynch singled a line drive to center field with Adam Hall and Bramasco crossing home plate. Max Murphy then singled on a ground ball allowing Didder to sprint home, a 5-5 tie.

The ninth inning finished in a 6-6 tie, forcing them into a tenth. With a high-pressure last inning, the Goldeyes pulled through in a 9-8 win thanks to Jiandido Tromp.

In the last home series of the regular season, the Goldeyes will be playing the Lake Country DockHounds Aug. 28 at 7 pm, in our very own Blue Cross Park.
