Two men are facing gun charges after an incident in Powerview-Pine Falls on Friday night.

RCMP were contacted at about 10:25 p.m. after a man was seen carrying a rifle at a business on Pine Street in Pine Falls and then on Betty Street in Powerview. He was believed to be with another man driving an all-terrain vehicle.

Officers tried to stop the ATV on Art Avenue in Pine Falls about 10 minutes later, and it later got stuck in a ditch on North Shore Road near Fort Alexander.

Police arrested a 25-year-old Powerview man. A 22-year-old Fort Alexander man ran into the bush and surrendered shortly after.

Officers found two rifles in the bush. One was loaded and had its serial number removed, while the other  — a prohibited gun — was unloaded.

Police determined the older man was the one seen at the business and that he threatened an ex-partner with the gun by attending her residence, RCMP said in a news release Tuesday.  She was not home at the time, but the incident was captured on camera.

SUPPLIEDThe serial number had been removed from a rifle RCMP seized in the bush near Fort Alexander.
