A man in his 20s was arrested for allegedly stabbing a Health Sciences Centre security guard on Thursday afternoon.
Winnipeg Police Service spokeswoman Const. Dani McKinnon said officers were called to the city hospital at about 2 p.m. to respond to the stabbing.
A security guard was stabbed in his hands during an altercation with an agitated patient who was getting treated in the emergency room, said McKinnon. The victim was treated for his injuries and released.
Police arrested a suspect, who will be charged with assault with a weapon. His name hasn’t been made public because the charge has not yet been formally laid.
McKinnon said she did not know whether police seized any weapons.
