The province has issued a high-wind-effect warning for parts of Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg.

High winds expected to develop Friday evening and last until Sunday morning might result in high-wind effects along the south basin of Lake Manitoba, and on shorelines near Gimli on the west side of Lake Winnipeg and at Victoria Beach on the east side.

Winds gusting up to 90 km/h and resulting waves “could raise water levels by five feet or more,” a Friday news release said, adding property owners are advised to take precautions.
