The cost of a highway reconstruction project in Powerview-Pine Falls has increased from an estimated $4 million to $6.1 million.

The lower cost was listed in the 2024-25 multi-year infrastructure investment strategy, while a news release Monday included the higher cost.

The tender for the project has closed and will be awarded shortly, with construction to start this summer, the Manitoba government said in the release.

The project involves reconstructing a 1.7-kilometre section of Highway 11 from Provincial Road 304 westward. It includes curbing to contain water and direct it into the Winnipeg River.

The community’s open ditches will be filled in and landscaped, which will allow the town to build sidewalks, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor noted in the release.
