The City of Winnipeg says firefighters are at the scene of a house explosion in Transcona and that neighbouring homes have caught fire.

The house is on Camrose Bay.

“Residents are advised to avoid the area until further notice. More details to follow,” the City of Winnipeg said on Facebook and X, formerly known as Twitter, late Wednesday morning.

The Winnipeg Police Service said the incident happened in the first 100 block of Camrose and that pedestrians and motorists are requested to avoid the area.

“Limited information is available,” the WPS said on X.

The city said a Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service official at the scene will brief journalists on the situation shortly.
