A quick start gave way to a sloppy second period.
After the Winnipeg Jets struck first, they didn’t strike again, falling 5-1 to a Montreal Canadiens team that plays fast all over the ice and makes their opponent pay for its mistakes.
The Jets slipped to 22-26-8 for the season and they’re not back in action until Feb. 25 against the Vancouver Canucks.
Kyle Connor had the lone goal for the Jets, his 25th tally of the season.
Canadiens right-winger Brendan Gallagher scored a goal and added two assists to pace the offensive attack, while Samuel Montembeault made 36 saves.
