The Winnipeg Jets have knocked off the NHL’s No. 1 team.

A 3-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday afternoon keeps the club’s slim playoff hopes alive.

Connor Hellebuyck was the star of the show, stopping 27 of 28 shots. Kyle Connor scored his 30th goal of the year and added an assist, Mark Scheifele had a pair of helpers to set a new career-high (51), Alex Iafallo scored the game-winning goal and Cole Perfetti added a valuable empty-netter to seal the victory.

Winnipeg improves to 27-28-10 this year, including 4-2-0 on this season-long eight-game homestand.

Colorado falls to 44-12-9.

The Jets return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host the St. Louis Blues at 2 pm.
