MONTREAL – The Winnipeg Jets closed out this five-game road trip with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
Once again, the Jets’ top line took care of the offence, with Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor scoring for the visitors, who will face the Buffalo Sabres on Friday at Canada Life Centre before traveling to Edmonton to face the Oilers on Saturday.
Jets goalie Eric Comrie had a strong outing with 29 saves in his 11th start of the season, turning aside two of three during the shootout.
Gabe Vilardi looked to extend the shootout to the fourth round, but his shot rattled off the iron.
The Jets, who slipped to 13-12-1 on the season, made three lineup changes, inserting defencemen Neal Pionk (who returned after missing four games with a lower-body injury) and Elias Salomonsson and winger Cole Koepke.
