Jets fire assistant coach Brad Lauer

The Winnipeg Jets have fired assistant coach Brad Lauer following two years behind the bench.

General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff made the announcement Monday morning as Scott Arniel was formally introduced as the team’s new head coach, succeeding the retired Rick Bowness.

That means the organization is now looking for two new assistants — one to fill Lauer’s spot, and one to fill Arniel’s. The other two assistants, Marty Johnston and Wade Flaherty, are both being brought back.

Arniel said he hopes to have his coaching staff rounded out in the next week or two.
