CHICAGO – The Winnipeg Jets couldn’t come up with a goal – let alone a much-needed victory – in Jonathan Toews’ highly-anticipated return to Chicago.

The host Blackhawks skated to a 2-0 victory inside United Center on Monday night.

Jason Dickinson scored with just under seven minutes left in the second period to put Chicago ahead, and then Connor Bedard sealed it with an empty-net goal.

The Jets entered play with points in five straight games (4-0-1) but couldn’t find a way to beat Blackhawks goaltender Spencer Knight, who stopped all 32 shots he faced.

Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves in a losing effort.

Toews got an extended standing ovation in the first period as he played his first game as a visitor in the city that he helped capture three Stanley Cups.

The Jets are now 19-23-6. They return to action Tuesday night against the St. Louis Blues inside Canada Life Centre.
