The Winnipeg Jets will be without Colin Miller for at least the next two weeks after the veteran defenceman suffered a fractured larynx in the first period of Saturday’s game with the Detroit Red Wings.

Miller was taken to hospital for X-rays on Saturday and was back at the arena before the game was over. He has since seen a specialist, is in good spirits and already on the road to recovery.

“We’ll just see how it goes from there,” said Jets head coach Scott Arniel. “Dangerous situation, but he’s doing a lot better.”

The injury to Miller opens the door for Dylan Coghlan to return to the lineup on the third pairing with Ville Heinola for Tuesday’s game against the Nashville Predators.

Fellow Jets D-man Dylan Samberg shed his non-contact jersey on Tuesday morning and is getting closer to a return, but that won’t come before the weekend games against the Los Angeles Kings and/or Colorado Avalanche.
