Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is getting a six-figure financial boost after Bell Let’s Talk announced $260,000 in funding to the organization and nine other community entities across Western Canada on Wednesday.

Ma Mawi will receive $100,000, money that will support its Sacred Connections: Pathways for Wellness program.

The Indigenous-led initiative offers trauma-informed spaces for healing and cultural connection through traditional teachings and land-based activities.

The remaining $160,000 is going to other organizations working to improve mental health outcomes.

Survivor’s Hope Crisis Centre; the Pembina Hills Arts Council; Metis Child, Family and Community Services; the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba; and Graffiti Art Programming are the other Manitoba groups selected for grants.

The 15th Bell Let’s Talk Day in support of mental health awareness and initiatives is set for Jan. 22.
