An 18-year-old man died after he was struck by a vehicle he “had run in front of” on Notre Dame Avenue.
The collision happened at the intersection of Notre Dame and Cecil Street at about 6 a.m. Saturday, and the area was closed to traffic for hours.
The man was transported to hospital in critical condition and then pronounced dead.
The Winnipeg Police Service said Monday that investigators determined the victim had run in front of the vehicle, which was going south on Notre Dame Avenue.
The driver, who was the lone occupant of his vehicle, called 911 and provided emergency medical care until an ambulance arrived.
Police have notified the family of the man killed.
The WPS is asking anyone with information about the crash, or video, to call traffic division investigators at 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 (TIPS).
