A 20-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing in Pauingassi First Nation, RCMP say.

Little Grand Rapids RCMP were called to a home last Wednesday around 9:40 p.m. after a community safety officer responded to a report of a stabbing. Officers found a 29-year-old man dead at a residence. His death was deemed a homicide, and Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services took over the investigation.

One suspect, also from Pauingassi, was arrested that night.

In an update on Monday, RCMP confirmed Mathias Maurice Keeper has been charged with second-degree murder and remanded into custody.

RCMP continue to investigate.
