A homicide suspect who was released from custody pending further investigation has been rearrested and charged in a slaying in an Interlake community.
RCMP said Chase Paul, 23, is charged with second-degree murder after a 23-year-old man’s body was found in a wooded area in Lake Manitoba First Nation a few hours after the victim was reported missing April 30.
Paul, who is from the First Nation, was arrested that day and later released because “further investigative steps were needed,” police said in a news release Thursday.
Paul was arrested in Winnipeg on Monday, after the Manitoba Prosecution Service authorized the second-degree murder charge and a warrant was issued, RCMP said.
