Man accused of possessing guns despite court orders arrested

RCMP have arrested a man accused of having several firearms at his home in the Rural Municipality of Oakland-Wawanesa despite multiple court orders prohibiting him from possessing any weapons.

Brandon RCMP executed a warrant on the man’s rural property at about 6 a.m. on Aug. 31.

Officers seized six firearms, magazines, ammunition and a knife. Three of the guns and some of the ammunition, as well as one of the magazines, are classified as prohibited weapons.

A 34-year-old man has been charged with several firearms offences and court order breaches. He was released on bail.
