An 18-year-old man accused of slashing a tire on a police officer’s cruiser car has been arrested.

The Winnipeg Police Service said on Tuesday that patrol officers had gone to a home on the 100 block of Furby Street just before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, where they were met at the door by a “hostile” man who was not involved in the original complaint for which the officers had been called.

Police eventually got inside the home, but the man continued to act aggressively to them, police said. After he was told to leave, the man threatened to slash the tires on the officer’s cruiser.

When the police returned to their vehicle, they saw that one of the tires had been slashed multiple times, leaving it flat. A concerned citizen who witnessed the incident gave police a description of the suspect and advised he still had a knife.

Police found the suspect walking on Furby and tried to arrest him. Officers had to use their Tasers to get him into custody. Officers seized a knife.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats, possession of a weapon and mischief under $5,000.
