Man arrested after three attacked

A 28-year-old man is facing charges after three people were assaulted.

On March 28 at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received report of a stabbing in the 500 block of Elgin Avenue.

Attending officers determined that a male suspect was involved in an argument with several individuals. The dispute escalated, resulting in a man assaulting a 53-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man in the upper body. A 33-year-old man was also assaulted in the upper body with a weapon.

The woman and 60-year-old man victims did not require medical attention, but the 33-year-old victim was transported to hospital in stable condition.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., officers located a suspect in the 600 block of Balmoral Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Nathan Sumner, 28, of Little Saskatchewan First Nation, has been charged with assault and assault with a weapon. He was detained in custody.
