Man arrested after three taxi robberies

Winnipeg police have arrested a suspect in three recent armed robberies of taxi drivers downtown.

The first robbery was on Feb. 17, when a cab driver was robbed by a man armed with a gun near Agnes Street and Sargent Avenue.

The second gunpoint robbery of a cab driver occurred at the same intersection on Feb. 21 and in that case, the driver’s taxi was also stolen.

The third robbery of a driver happened on March 1 on the 500 block of Sargent Avenue.

Winnipeg Police Service major crimes detectives arrested Michael Darren Harris, 37, and charged him with three counts each of robbery, possession of a weapon and using an imitation firearm during an indictable offence. He was held in custody.
