Man arrested after verbal altercation leads to machete attack outside Siloam Mission

A 33-year-old is in custody after police say a verbal dispute ended with a machete attack early Monday morning outside of Siloam Mission.
Police say they were called to the 300 block of Stanley Street just after 12:30 a.m. after a report of an assault with a weapon. Responding officers located a 36-year-old victim outside the shelter with serious injuries to his upper body. Officers used multiple tourniquets before the man was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Police say around 12:30 a.m., the suspect and the victim were outside of Siloam when they became involved in a verbal dispute. This escalated to the point where the suspect male brandished a machete that had been concealed in his backpack, striking the victim before fleeing.
The suspect was located and arrested by police a short time later outside a building in the 300 block of Princess Street. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. He was detained in custody.
