A man with an outstanding immigration warrant has been charged with assaulting a senior outside a hospital.

Winnipeg police said on Saturday a 74-year-old man was walking towards the entrance of the Seven Oaks General Hospital’s urgent care when he was suddenly attacked.

The senior fell to the ground, hit his head on the sidewalk, and was knocked unconscious during the unprovoked attack on Dec. 3 at about 5:17 p.m.

The victim was treated in hospital while the suspect fled. The suspect was arrested during an unrelated call for service on Thursday at about 11:45 p.m.

Patee Hae Htoo, 30, has been charged with assault. Because Htoo has an outstanding Canadian Border services Agency warrant, it has been notified of Htoo’s detention in custody.
