Man assaulted, robbed downtown: police

Winnipeg police are investigating after a man was assaulted and robbed Friday afternoon.

Police say the man, who is a security guard, was outside of a building on the 300 block of Main Street around 1:45 p.m. when he noticed someone going through his belongings nearby. When he approached the suspect, he was allegedly hit on the head with a metal object and his property was stolen, a Saturday news release states.

A witness stopped to help the victim, who was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect and it’s unknown how many individuals were involved in the incident.
