A 28-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly robbing two St. Vital businesses Friday night.

The man was removed from a lounge in the 1100 block of St. Mary’s Road for “belligerent behaviour,” police said in a Saturday media release.

The man then visited a fast-food restaurant on the 600 block of Dakota Street and allegedly chased employees from the store while armed with a knife. He left empty-handed, police say.

Around 9:50 p.m. police say the man stole a 15-pack of beer from a vendor on the 1100 block of St. Mary’s Road at knifepoint. The man fled on foot and was arrested by police after a short pursuit.

The man is charged with two counts robbery, possession of a weapon and three counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order.

He was detained in custody.
