Man charged in December slaying

Police have arrested and charged a man with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of a 20-year-old man in December.
Winnipeg Police Service officers were sent to the 200 block of Flora Avenue in the North End on Dec. 30 after a report of “suspicious circumstances.” Brooklyn Elijah Hiebert, 20, was dead when they arrived at the scene.
The victim was assaulted on the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue before his body was abandoned on Flora, police said in a news release Tuesday.
Christopher Kyle Wattman, 36, was arrested Sunday on the 900 block of Aberdeen Avenue. He remains in custody. The investigation continues.
