Man charged in Opaskwayak Cree Nation weapon incident

Officers arrested a man with a homemade weapon who was reportedly walking towards a school in Opaskwayak Cree Nation, police say.
The Manitoba First Nations Police Service was contacted by a business at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 about an intoxicated man passed out inside. Someone at the business called back to say the man had a large machete and was headed towards the school.
Officers arrested a man after a short foot chase and found “a homemade edged weapon” hidden on him, the MFNPS said in a news release Thursday.
A 23-year-old Easterville man was remanded into custody on several charges, including failing to comply with a probation order.
